Canada Day in Parksville will celebrate the 158th anniversary of Canada’s confederation, the City of Parksville’s 80th birthday and the 50th anniversary of the Mount Arrowsmith Pipe Band.
The city is busy planning a great family-friendly event for the community with a little more of everything, according to a news release by the City of Parksville.
"On Canada Day, we come together to celebrate and shine a light on our country and whatever it is that makes you proud," the release said. "We hope you will share in the day and connect with families, neighbours and friends at Parksville’s Canada Day festivities."
Canada Day 2025 will look something like this:
7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Shriner’s breakfast at the Coastal Community Credit Union parking lot on Craig Street
10 a.m. - Parade down Island Highway East
Noon to 6:30 p.m. - Entertainment at the Parksville Outdoor Theatre
1 p.m. to 5 p.m. - Face painters picnic shelter
2:30 p.m. - Canada Day cupcakes and cake at picnic shelter
11 a.m. to 7 p.m. - Food truck festival near the sports fields
1 p.m. to 9 p.m. - Entertainment and activities Gathering Plaza
6 p.m. to 9 p.m. - Summer by the Sea Street Market on Craig Street
Parksville has announced its all-Vancouver Island, Canada Day music line-up for the Parksville Outdoor Theatre. Details about the bands may be viewed on Let’s Talk Parksville.
The music kicks off at noon with Mount Arrowsmith Pipe Band and dancers, until 12:45 p.m., when the opening ceremony will commence.
Time Well Wasted will play from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., followed by Sarah Smith from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and wrapping up with The Joints from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Things the city would like residents to know about Canada Day in Parksville
• Free family-friendly fun in the sun kicks off with the Parksville Canada Day parade followed by activities and entertainment in the Parksville Community Park;
• Entertainment and children’s activities in gathering plaza from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.;
• Food trucks in the parking lot by the sport fields from 11 a.m. through early evening;
• Sandcastle Drive to Arbutus Point will be closed to vehicles with general parking in gravel lot and accessible parking within the park.
