The Town of Qualicum Beach is creating a Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan.
According to a release from the town, the plan is designed to empower the community to be resilient and better prepared for wildfire events.
The plan is being developed with the support of a wildfire consultant from Diamond Head Consulting Ltd and will identify wildfire risk and propose a series of strategic actions to mitigate wildfire risk to the community, according to the release. Possible actions could include education, changes in town policy and active forest management on public land. The plan does not include the implementation of strategies but lays a foundation for future implementation.
