Oceanside RCMP were on the lookout for thieves, after 50 toques, Big Carl and some advent calendars were pilfered in the PQB area.
On Dec. 6, Big Carl, Bowser’s Christmas Minion, was reported stolen in the 6900 block of Island Highway West in Bowser. Two days earlier, a package containing 50 toques was reported stolen from the front porch in the 500 block of Corfield Street South in Parksville. The same say, seven advent calendars awaiting pickup by a courier were reported stolen from the front porch of a residence in the 800 block of Drew Road in Parksville.
The week of Dec. 2 to Dec. 8, Oceanside RCMP received 219 complaints. There were 15 requests for wellness checks and 21 false alarms. Some of the other incidents included:
A nighttime car prowler was reported a few days after the fact in 400 block of Birch Avenue in Qualicum Beach, on Dec. 2. The same day, a resident reported being defrauded out of $1,000 when an unknown person gained access to their smart phone, and used a linked charge card and online social media accounts.
Also Dec. 2, a television was found on the side of the road near Alberni Highway and Highway 19A in Parksville. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim quoting File 2024-12040.
Two suspects were reported to have cut the lock off a gate and stole two propane bottles in the 1200 block of Meadowood Way in Qualicum Beach on Dec. 3. One day later, multiple hand railings were reported stolen in the 1200 block of Industrial Way in Parksville; and fencing and fence gates valued at more than $7,000 were reported stolen in the 1200 block of Franklins Gull Road.
On Dec. 5, a vehicle was reported vandalized with a window broken and two tires flattened in the 400 block of Despard Avenue West in Parksville. On Dec. 7, a shed was reported broken into and was sprayed with graffiti in the 1400 block of Outrigger Road in Nanoose Bay. One day later, a white 2011 Toyota Tundra with B.C. licence plates PB980L, was reported stolen in the 1500 block of King Road in Qualicum Beach.
