Regional District of Nanaimo advises residents about phone scam

Resident reports a caller purporting to be an RDN rep and seeking credit card info

The Regional District of Nanaimo is warning the public about a scam currently happening in the region.

The district reported a resident got a call from an individual posing as an RDN representative and attempted to get their credit card information.

The resident hung up the phone and called the RDN about the incident.

The RDN advises residents not to provide credit card or other personal information unless you have initiated a call to the regional district.

Residents can also report suspicious callers to the RCMP or the anti-fraud line at 1-888-495-8501.
