The Regional District of Nanaimo has completed a parkland exchange with Wicklow West Holdings as part of a subdivision development process.
The land exchange has created a continuous piece of greenspace between Little Qualicum River Regional Park and Meadowood Community Park, enabling a future trail connection between the two parks after homes in the subdivision have been built.
“The land exchange will improve access to Little Qualicum River Regional Park and enhance natural areas and recreational opportunities in Meadowood Community Park,” said Electoral Area F Director Leanne Salter. “I look forward to the trail’s completion and the improved access between the two parks.”

The new parkland will be part of Little Qualicum River Regional Park, which the RDN will maintain along with the future trail.
Work already completed in Meadowood Community Park includes a new road connection between Ashling Road and Galvin Place, siting of the Meadowood Fire Hall on its own lot and a new forested area to replace an open gravel park space.
