All watering restrictions will be lifted in Regional District of Nanaimo Water Service Areas on Nov. 1

It will be in effect except for the Decourcey and Surfside Water Service Areas, which will remain at Stage 4 due to operational needs.

Recent significant rain events through the month of October have relieved drought conditions and reduced the seasonal water demand, according to an RDN press release. The provincial drought rating for eastern Vancouver Island has now eased, and stream flows are returning to normal levels for this time of year.

Conserving water, however, is an important, year-round habit as drought conditions are coming earlier and lasting longer than in the past. Increasing water efficiency helps build drought-resilience over the long term.

Visit your respective water provider’s website for more details and current information. A map of water service areas, including current watering restrictions, can be viewed at rdn.bc.ca/watering-restriction-map. For tips on water conservation, visit rdn.bc.ca/team-watersmart.
