Power has been restored to several thousand customers, mostly in the Qualicum Beach area, after a windstorm-related outage this morning (Nov. 4).
BC Hydro's outage list shows more than 3,000 addresses were affected in the Qualicum Beach area, due to trees downed on power wires. Power was restored at approximately noon.
A further 236 customers are without power in the Hilliers area, as of 1 p.m., with the cause listed as "under investigation" by BC Hydro, with a crew on site.
There are also 25 addresses without power in Parksville, due to the wind storm, as of 1 p.m.
Environment and Climate Change Canada forecast, for east Vancouver Island, southeast winds 70 km/h with gusts to 90 km/h are expected this morning. Winds will become strong northwesterlies in the wake of the front this afternoon.
