The Town of Qualicum Beach is proud to participate in the Red Dress Project, marking the UN Women 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence.

This initiative honours missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirited individuals.

The red dresses are displayed in the town hall foyer through Dec.10, aligning with the 16 Days of Activism, and also Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women (Dec. 6).

Red Dress Project was initiated by Métis artist Jamie Black in 2010 to bring attention to missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. It has become an annual event to honour not just the lives lost, but also a call to action to demand justice for the victims and their families.
