Vandals and thieves continue to keep Oceanside RCMP personnel busy.
During the week of Aug. 5 to Aug. 11, the Oceanside RCMP received 283 complaints. RCMP responded to 32 requests to check well-being, four calls regarding animals and four calls for causing a disturbance. Some of the other incidents included:
On Aug. 6 in Parksville, a purse was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 100 block of Bagshaw Street. One day later in Bowser, two tires were reported slashed on a vehicle in the 100 block of Northdowne Road, Bowser. The same day, another vehicle was reported vandalized with a broken window and body damage in the area of Sea Blush Drive and Sundew Place in Nanoose Bay.
On Aug. 8, a commercial building crawl space door was reported damaged in the 100 block of Harrison Avenue in Parksville. Also Aug. 8 in the city, a residential break-and-enter was reported in the 100 block of Beachside Drive. A single female was apprehended and detained.
A commercial vehicle was reported stolen in the 7500 block of Island Highway West in Bowser on Aug. 9. The vehicle was recovered by Campbell River RCMP the next day.
On Aug. 11, a residence was reported egged in the 200 block of Stanford Avenue West in Parksville. The same day in Qualicum Beach, an unlicensed, black 2005 Yamaha street bike was reported stolen in the 2400 block of Whistler Road.
A Tech Team bicycle was dropped off at the Oceanside detachment on Aug. 8. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim quoting File 2024-7782.
