Vandals strike series of residential fences in Qualicum Beach

Police also deal with damage to businesses, auto theft

Vandals and thieves have been busy in the PQB area. 

During the week of Dec. 22 to Dec. 29, Oceanside RCMP received 215 complaints. Some of the incidents included:

On Dec. 23, two vandals were reported trying to break in to post office boxes in the 200 block of Garden Road West in Qualicum Beach. The same day, a vehicle window was reported broken while parked in the 100 block of First Avenue n Qualicum Beach.

On Dec. 24, a vehicle was reported with damage to two windows in the 400 block of Craig Street in Parksville and an apartment complex break-and-enter was reported with damage to a parkade door in the 300 block of Hirst Avenue West, Parksville.

Two days later a business break-and-enter was reported with a front door smashed and money stolen in the 100 block of Fourth Avenue, Qualicum Beach. Also on Dec. 26: a business break-and-enter was reported with a front door smashed in the 500 block of Island Highway East, Parksville; a residential fence was reported damaged in the 800 block of Savory Drive, Qualicum Beach, on December 26; six forklift cylinders were reported stolen from a business in the 900 block of Church Road, Parksville, and a residential break-and-enter was reported with a number of items missing in the 700 block of Phillips Street in Parksville.

Another two residential fences were reported damaged in the 800 block of Savory Drive, Qualicum Beach, on Dec. 27. Also on the same day: a residential fence was reported damaged in the 100 block of Sixth Avenue West, Qualicum Beach and another reported damaged in the 700 block of Primrose Street.

Air was reported let out vehicle tires in the 3000 block of Island Highway West, Qualicum Beach, on Dec. 28. The same day the back window of a moving vehicle was reported smashed by a projectile on Pym Street South in Parksville.

Exterior lights were reported damaged at a business in the 300 block of Island Highway West, Parksville, on Dec. 29. Two youths were arrested and will make restitution to the business. Also Dec 29, a vehicle was reported stolen in the 900 block of Shearme Road in Coombs. The vehicle was recovered by Comox RCMP the same day.
