The Oceanside Lions are roaring mightily in the Vancouver Island Canadian Football Association Fall Championships.

Their atom, peewee and junior bantam teams are all in the final this weekend. The peewee and junior bantam teams are vying for a spot in the BC Provincial Championships later this month in Victoria.

This Atom Lions will face Westshore at 10 a.m. at the Nanaimo District astroturf field on Saturday, (Nov. 9).

Then it's the Peewee Lions' turn and will take on the Cowichan Bulldogs at 12 p.m. A win against the Bulldogs will advance the Peewee Lions against the Okanagan league champions on Nov. 16 to battle for the B.C. finals on Nov. 23 in Victoria.

The JB Lions will compete next against the formidable Saanich Wolverines at 2 p.m. The Wolverines have dominated the junior bantam level as they have not lost in 49 games. The JB Lions hope to be the one to end the Wolverines' win streak and advance to the B.C. finals on Nov. 23 in Victoria.

The JB Lions are led by head coach Adam Charon, who is coaching at the level for the first team. He led the Peewee Lions to an Island title last spring.
