Oceanside Minor Baseball elects new board members

There has been a changing of the guard in the Oceanside Minor Baseball Association.

At its annual general meeting that held on Nov. 6, the OMBA elected a new board and also marked the retirement of three long-time members.

The new OMBA president is Krista Smith, who takes over outgoing president Rob McGorman, who has been one of the driving force at the helm of minor baseball in the community. The other members stepping down are secretary Sheila Morrison and registrar Angela Hinz.

"The retiring members are going to be missed," said Michael Cochrane, who with Lyle Lamont have been with the OMBA since 1994.  "A big thank you to Rob, Sheila and Angela for their dedication in helping to keep our organization going strong."

The other members of the the 2025 OMBA board will include vice-president Margaret O'Connor, treasurer Nancy Lamont, secretary Jackie Munro, directors Denise Thorne, Troy Gaudon and Brett Fee.

As well, the OMBA honoured Evan Geekie with the 2024 Coach of the Year Award and Denise Thorne, who was presented with the 2024 Volunteer of the Year Award.
