The Oceanside Generals dropped another two Vancouver Island Junior Hockey Games recently.
They were on the road on Friday night (Nov. 1) and faced Lake Cowichan Kraken, who are just above the Generals at the bottom of the North Division. Things didn't go the Generals' way.
The Generals started slowly and paid for it as the Kraken scored three goals in the first period that pretty much sealed their fate. They were able to cut the lead to 3-2, with goals from Anthony Alexander and Logan Lough but lost their momentum when the Kraken scored in the dying seconds to end the period with a 4-2 lead. The Generals made another bid to turn their fortunes around in the final frame but faded down the stretch giving up another goal to eventually lose 5-2.
Goalie Hunter Farrer made 34 saves.
The next night, the Generals hosted the Westshore Wolves, the top team in the South Division, at Howie Meeker Arena on Saturday night, (Nov. 2).
The Generals were able to limit the Wolves to just a goal in the first period but were not able to slow Westshore's aggressive forechecking game in the next two periods, giving up four straight goals. The Generals avoided the shutout when Grayson Erickson tallied late in the final frame. The final score was 5-1.
Goalie Josh Nuttall faced 50 shots and turned away 45.
