Dr. Stephanie Allan joins Lakeside Dental

Patients visiting Lakeside Dental Clinic this week will see a new dentist at the chair, as Dr. Robert Wolanski welcomes Dr. Stephanie Allan to the Nanaimo dental office.

Dr. Allan, who grew up in the Cowichan Valley, earned her Bachelor of Science from Vancouver Island University, and her dental degree at the University of British Columbia. She was keen to return to the the Island, and after meeting the Lakeside Dental team during a work experience session, was thrilled to have the opportunity to join them permanently.

“I’ve always been interested in health care and helping people, and I had heard great things about dentistry, so it seemed like a great fit,” Dr. Allan says.

She also recognizes the opportunities offered by a full-service practice like Lakeside Dental Clinic, which has served Nanaimo with care since 1988. The clinic expanded in 2004 with the addition of the Vancouver Island Implant Centre, where Dr. Wolanski offers “teeth in a day,” providing clients with the ease and comfort of undergoing the entire implant process at one location, with everything done on-site by his experienced team.

“Dr. Wolanski will be a great mentor and I’m really looking forward to the real-world experience and soaking it all in.”

A warm welcome

After 30 years in dentistry, Nanaimo’s Dr. Wolanski appreciates the diverse skillset required for today’s dentistry and is keen to share that with the next generation of dentists.

“Dr. Allan brings so much to our practice and the community and we’re thrilled to have her on board. Her insight and caring nature have been evident from her high marks in dental school and the respect given to her by her fellow classmates at UBC. I am confident that she will be a fantastic addition to the healthcare community of Nanaimo.” Dr. Wolanski.

Like Dr. Wolanski, Dr. Allan appreciates both the results and comfort modern dentistry offers, from life-changing implant technology to techniques like sedation that dramatically improve patient comfort level.

A shared passion for community

Dr. Wolanski, who recently worked with a dental outreach group in Kenya that treated more than 900 children, and Dr. Allan also share a passion for helping others.

As an avid volunteer whose local efforts have included Operation Trackshoes and Providence Farm, she also volunteered her services during weekend clinics at UBC and has helped at Nanaimo’s not-for-profit CODE Dental Clinic.

“I’d really like to make volunteering and giving back part of my practice,” she says.
