Parry Gallagher understands the importance of community.
To survive as a business owner in a small region like Oceanside and area, you have to put community first. That means building genuine relationships with your customers, offering quality products and providing helpful service. It’s not just about improving sales, it also makes it less awkward when you run into those customers at the grocery store!
Putting community first also means supporting neighbours and organizations that keep Oceanside and the surrounding area strong. Which is one of the reasons Parry’s store, Coombs Junction Furniture, is supporting the local Legions in Parksville and Qualicum Beach this October.
“The Legion helps thousands of veterans each and every year, and our Legionnaires provide many essential services in our community,” he says.
For more than 75 years the Legion has been at the forefront of support for military personnel and their families, offering affordable housing, career transition counselling and trauma relief. Legion members also raise funds throughout the year to donate to other local groups including sports teams, arts organizations, healthcare charities and other nonprofits.
As we approach Remembrance Day, consider supporting the Legion by becoming a member or making a donation. You can even support two local organizations at once by making a purchase at Coombs Junction Furniture. The store will donate $50 from every purchase over $999.99 (pre-tax) to Branch 76 in Qualicum Beach and Branch 49 in Parksville.
Shop local to support your community
From now until Nov. 2 every item at Coombs Junction Furniture is 10 per cent off, including items already on sale. The store carries an excellent selection of Canadian, BC and Island-made furniture from quality manufacturers including Tree Fever Designs crafted just up the road in Black Creek.
If you’re considering a new addition to your bedroom, living room or dining room, stop by and visit Parry and the knowledgable staff at Coombs Junction Furniture. With everything from sofas to dining tables, area rugs to mattresses, you’re likely to find the furniture you need to finish that home office, home theatre or storage space. If you find something you like this October, you’ll be supporting a local business and also supporting your local Legion!
“When shoppers buy local the money stays right here in town, creating local jobs and supporting our local economy,” Parry says.
