A rash of break-ins

Oceanside RCMP report several break-and-enters in Parksville Qualicum Beach last week

The Oceanside RCMP this week issued a warning to residents to take extra care in securing their property.

The warning comes as police investigate several break, enter and thefts that were reported on Sept. 10.

"The break-ins were not contained to one specific area of Parksville or Qualicum Beach and included theft from homes, sheds, vehicles, and a business," said Corporal Jesse Foreman. "Three of the six occurrences happened during daytime hours."

The police are asking the public to be vigilant in reporting suspicious persons or vehicles observed in your neighbourhoods.

"It is also important to note that you should always secure your residence and vehicle and keep valuables out of sight, be it daytime or nighttime," he added. "The police and the public must work together to help stop these senseless crimes." The Oceanside RCMP are seeking public assistance with any information regarding any crimes and encourage you to contact your local police at 250-248-6111 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.                       — NEWS Staff
