Alfred Charles (Charlie) KILLIP

Alfred Charles Killip (Charlie)

May 6, 1918 – October 21, 2013

On October 21 Charlie quietly passed away. He will be greatly missed by his wife and life companion of almost seventy years, Gladys.

They were married in Vancouver in 1947. Over the following years Gladys and Charlie were inseparable. Charlie was born in 1918 in Vancouver, spending most of his childhood and youth living on Harwood St.  He served in the RCAF during WW II, and was stationed in Canada, England and Europe.  After the war he practiced as an accountant, first working at Clarkson Gordon, and then looking after the accounting needs for a number of businesses.

Charlie was always known as a kind man with a warm smile. Friends and business associates thought the world of him. After residing in Vancouver for their working years, Charlie and Gladys retired to the Qualicum area. He volunteered for community groups including years with the Rotary.  He was involved in the United Church,  being very active with St Andrews Wesley while living in Vancouver, and then serving on the Committee of Stewarts at St Stephens in the Town of Qualicum.

The family is very thankful for the thoughtful care provided by all his care givers over the past few years, and in particular his special caregiver, Sheila. Charlie will be missed by the family and in particular his nephew Brian Killip and niece Carolyn Bradford.  All of us will miss Charlie’s warm smile and kind manner.

A service was held on November 4 at St. Stephens United Church in Qualicum Beach.

Condolences may be forwarded to the family through Qualicum Beach Funeral Centre, P.O. Box 367,
