Alleged mail thief arrested in Hilliers near Qualicum Beach

Suspect facing charges of mischief and theft from a mailbox

A 30-year-old Kamloops man was arrested in Hilliers Sunday evening for allegedly stealing mail.

Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman said police were called to the area of a Canada Post mail box along Howard Road at approximately 5 p.m. "Witnesses alerted the RCMP of a man nearby that had been seen breaking into the mailbox and stealing mail," said Foreman. "He was arrested (and) all mail was recovered."

Foreman said the suspect was held in court with two outstanding warrants. He’s also facing two new charges for mischief to and theft from the mailbox.                                                                                      —NEWS Staff
