A local entrepreneur has taken the invasive broom issue into his own hands.

Yolan Marlatt of Above and Beyond: Custom Building, Backhoe & Snow Removal Services has figured out a way to tear out large patches of broom by its roots with his excavator.

"If I can tackle large areas I can help people reclaim their fields for farming and other things," said Marlatt.

Marlatt said the broom damages animals hooves and punctures tires among other headaches. As well as making himself available to local landowners, Marlatt said he'll pitch his idea to the local municipalities and perhaps help rid the area of the highly invasive weed.
