BC Conservatives seek board members

Annual General Meeting for local riding association set

Freshly energized by a speech by party leader John Cummins in Parksville on the weekend, BC Conservatives are gearing up to take the next step on their road back from obscurity.

Board secretary Barbara Williams said she’s hoping for a strong showing at the upcoming annual general meeting for the local riding association, slated to be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24 at the Parksville Community and Conference Centre.

“We are closing in on 150 members in the area and the party has certainly grown in B.C.,” she said. “We would certainly love to  get new members join up that night.”

She said she’s also hoping some of those who come through the door will sign up to take an active role on the board, noting that while there are 14 positions available, only seven have been filled to date.

Besides getting an update on party finances and electing a new board, Williams said the floor will be open for discussion of topics important to party members.
