BC Hydro busy trying to restore power in Parksville Qualicum Beach

Some parts of Parksville Qualicum Beach area are currently without power while BC Hydro crews work on downed lines that resulted from the heavy winter storm that hit the region on Friday night (Nov. 4).

Some parts of Parksville Qualicum Beach area are currently without power while BC Hydro crews work on downed lines that resulted from the heavy winter storm that hit the region on Friday night (Nov. 4).

Parksville Qualicum Beach is among the hardest hit areas. The strong winds and heavy rains knocked down trees, branches that impacted power lines and caused massive outages.

Saturday morning, the region was dealing with the aftermath of the storms as there was a huge amount of fallen twigs, branches and leaves that have been scattered all over the streets that required a major clean up by town and city crews. Residents were also busy this morning sweeping away fallen leaves from their yards.

In Parksville Qualicum Beach, the power went out at 8:30 p.m. on Friday night. Some homes were still without electricity this morning. Traffic lights were out and some areas were cordoned off due to fallen wires.

BC Hydro crews worked over night and continue to work Saturday morning to restore power. BC Hydro stated that due to the extensive damage, repair work may take some time and could continue until Sunday. especially those living in more remote areas.
