A black bear was seen wandering around a residence in Errington early Friday morning (July 17).
The owner of the home, located off Bowlby Road, was surprised by the morning visitor. From the living room, the resident was able to capture a photo of the bruin as it roamed around the house.
The bear, the homeowner said, went on to check the cherry trees in the yard but didn’t get much and eventually left.
They do keep their garbage bins locked up in a shed and advise other residents nearby to do the same to avoid bears being habituated to the area and become a risk to public safety.

According to the British Columbia Conservation Officer Service, every year they respond to thousands of complaints, particularly when bears can access non-natural food sources.
Last year, according to the Ministry of Environment statistics, between Jan. 1 and Oct. 17, 521 black bears were destroyed.
