Thousands of Canadians will soon get a small glimpse into some of the beauty that Vancouver Island has to offer.

And they won’t even have to make the trip, thanks to the inclusion of an image of Cathedral Grove on a new set of Canada Post stamps.

Canada Post announced Monday, Jan. 15, it is issuing the first nine stamps in a multi-year series aimed at capturing “stunning landscapes across the country through a traveller’s view of must-see destinations,” according to a Canada Post press release.

Called “From Far and Wide,” the series is a set of smaller, “workhorse stamps” used most often for everyday mailings, meaning it’s the postage most Canadians see on their mail.

Now available, the set of stamps includes an image of a pair of trees seen from the Cathedral Grove trail.

Located on either side of the Alberni Highway by Cameron Lake west of Qualicum Beach, the grove, located in MacMillan Provincial Park, holds trees that are about 800 years old, and measure up to 75 metres in height.

Other landscape images on the new stamps feature: Percé Rock, Que.; Hopewell Rocks, N.B.; Covehead Harbour, P.E.I.; and Arctic Bay, Nunavut.
