City of Parksville crews planted 16,734 flowers during late May and early June throughout the city, including a display in the Pym Street display bed.
The display bed features a tribute to Parksville’s 75th birthday. In addition, 117 baskets were installed in the downtown area and 18 planters in the downtown core were decorated with flowers.

“Our crews installed 117 baskets on lamp standards in the downtown area,” read a release from the city. “Major streets such as Alberni Highway, Corfield Avenue, McMillan Street and Jensen Avenue saw most of the baskets with some smaller groupings on side streets such as Weld Street, Hirst Avenue at the Craig Street corner, under the town clock on Morison Avenue and in front of the Beach Club on the Island Highway. The baskets include a variety of colours in such plants as petunia, geranium, verbena, petchoa, calibrachoa, lobelia and bidens.”
