City releases online document regarding Parksville Wetlands

The City of Parksville has provided a document outlining background and context to the Parksville Wetlands.

A release issued on March 15 by the city’s manager of communications read that the 35.9 hectares, purchased in 2017 for $1.3 million by the city from the Ermineskin Cree Nation, is being maintained as a park in perpetuity for future generations.

The online document for review is available on the city’s website: www.parksville.ca for further details on how the wetlands came to be, how the city cars for the wetlands, the importance of fire safety to the area, as well as specific information about recent work completed by city staff.
