Crime report: Daytime prowlers spotted lurking in Parksville, Qualicum Beach

RCMP also deal with vandals, theft from mailboxes, counterfeit currency

Oceanside RCMP received 221 complaints the week of Feb. 21-27.

Some of the incidents included:

Feb. 21

• A daytime prowler was reported in the 200 block of Dunbar Way, Parksville.

Feb. 22

• A storage container forced entry was reported in the 1000 block of Herring Gull Way, Parksville. Locks were noted cut but nothing reported missing.

• A vehicle was vandalized in the 100 block of McCarter Street, Parksville. A vehicle window was noted broken.

• A business was reported vandalized in the 1200 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.

• A vehicle was reported vandalized when air was let out of the front tires in the 200 block of Seacroft Road, Qualicum Beach.

• A daytime prowler was reported in the 1000 block of Island Highway West, Parksville.

• A daytime prowler was reported in the 300 block of Hall Road, Qualicum Beach.

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2700 block of Island Highway West, Qualicum Beach.

• A Stihl model MS170 chainsaw was reported stolen from the back of a vehicle in the 2300 block of Island Highway East, Nanoose Bay.

Feb. 23

• A motorcycle was reported vandalized in the 2400 block of Island Highway East, Nanoose Bay. The speedometer and seat were noted damaged as well as fuel syphoned.

• The exhaust system was reported stolen from a vehicle left on Highway 19 near the Whiskey Creek Bridge. Fuel was also noted missing.

• B.C. licence plate DV878G was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of Kasba Circle, Parksville.

• A Canada Post mailbox was forced open and mail reported stolen on Meadowood Way, Qualicum Beach. Mail believed to have been stolen in this incident has since been recovered and investigators are continuing with the investigation.

• A counterfeit US $1 bill, serial L79626959H, was reported received by a local business.

• A black Monster brand backpack including contents was found in the 100 block of Pym Street North, Parksville. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

Feb. 24

• B.C. licence plate CB640C was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of Barclay Crescent, Parksville. The validation sticker was recovered in North Cowichan.

Feb. 25

• B.C. licence plates CJ895P were reported stolen and replaced with two mismatching plates on a vehicle in the 500 block of Panorama Place, Parksville.

Feb. 26

• A large industrial metal four-wheel cart was found in the 800 block of Aberdeen Drive, Parksville. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of Coombs Road, Coombs.

Feb. 27

• Three utility trailers were reported to have had their locks cut in the 200 block of Corfield Street north, Parksville. Bolt cutters were seized in the area.
