Crime report: Vehicle stolen in Parksville, recovered in Port Alberni area

Oceanside RCMP also deal with online scam, attempted business break-and-enter

Oceanside RCMP received 253 complaints the week of Feb. 26 to March 4.

Some of the incidents included:

Feb. 26

• A vehicle was reported stolen in the 300 block of Alberni Highway, Parksville. The vehicle was recovered by Port Alberni RCMP.

• A vehicle was reported stolen in the 1200 block of Industrial Way, Parksville, on Feb. 26. The vehicle was recovered by Nanaimo RCMP.

Feb. 27

• An attempted business break-and-enter was reported in the 2400 block of Island Highway East, Nanoose Bay. The door was damaged but no entry was gained.

• A charcoal grey 2015 DeVinci Downhill 16-speed mountain bike was reported stolen in the 100 block of Moilliet Street North, Parksville.

Feb. 28

• A resident reported losing $168 to a pop up scam on their computer.

March 1

A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 3300 block of Fyfe Road, Qualicum Beach. Damage was noted to vehicle ignition.

March 2

• A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 300 block of Island Highway East, Parksville. Damaged was noted to door lock and vehicle ignition.

• A winter coat was reported stolen from an unsecured vehicle in the 1100 block of Resort Drive, Parksville.

The detachment is located at 421 Pym St. North, Parksville, with public business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m., Monday to Friday, except holidays.
