Douglas Arthur Taylor

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our father, grandfather, Douglas Arthur Taylor, who was born in Vancouver Dec. 8, 1937 and passed suddenly at his home in Qualicum Beach on Feb.12, 2013. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Marjorie and Frank and many loving grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends, first wife Petra. He will be sadly missed by his sons, Robert (Aggie), Stuart (Sandra), granddaughters Ayla and Emily, grandsons Andrew and Owen, of whom he was so proud, sister Joan (George), sisters-in-law Dawn Eve and Maxine, brother-in-law Guy and many nieces, nephews, cousins, ex-wife Glenna, and friends made over the years working for CIBC in postings all over the province.

Doug attended David Livingstone Elementary and graduated from King Edward High. He always had a job, starting with a paper route when he was eleven. He was an Eagle Scout, the cowboy in the white hat. After a lifetime career with CIBC, he returned to his beloved Qualicum after retirement.

His life was dedicated to serving others ( receiving many civic awards) and also protecting the environment, most recently highly promoting the sustainability of our salmon, through his work with Streamkeepers and vocally supporting Alexandra Morton. He was involved with many service clubs over the years, was named Citizen of the year in Creston where he chaired the Blossom Time Festival for many years, worked with Citizens on Patrol, was Treasurer of Qualicum Curling Club for many years, organized the annual one-mile swim, etc. Doug enjoyed curling, boating and fishing, the comraderies of many friends along the way. He owned, loved and spoiled his dogs from childhood on, the last being Lucy, Rowdy and Keisha. A life well lived and regrets there were few. He was much loved, will be sorely missed by so many and now joins his heavenly family.

On March 2nd at 11am a public Celebration service followed by reception will be held at the Qualicum Beach Civic Ctr., 747 Jones St., Qualicum Beach.

On March 5th at 11am a funeral and reception will be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home, 306 East 11th Ave. Vancouver, followed by internment at Mountainview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations would be welcome by the David Suzuki Foundation or Streamkeepers Qualicum Beach Society.
