Driver arrested in crash

Alcohol suspected to have been involved in single vehicle crash

QUALICUM BEACH — Drinking and driving is being blamed for a single motor vehicle crash in Qualicum Beach last week.

Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman said the crash took place at the intersection of Bay Street and Highway 19A at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10. Foreman said the driver, a 48-year-old Qualicum Beach woman, drove her vehicle off the road and into a ditch after misjudging a turn.

Upon attendance, the police say they found the driver to be allegedly intoxicated by alcohol. He noted witnesses to the incident helped the police by making key observations and keeping an eye on the driver after her crash.

“Thankfully no other people were harmed in this collision,” Foreman said. The driver was arrested and released to appear in B.C. Provincial Court in May for the offence of operating a motor vehicle while impaired.
