The driver of a black Mercedes Benz caught in a suspicious hit and run along Corcan Road Friday is being released from hospital after suffering a medical condition, which may explain a strange series of events, according to police.
Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman said a tow truck company got in touch with police after The NEWS first reported the accident Tuesday, where a luxury vehicle smashed into a rural fence causing "significant" damages.
"The tow truck company advised they did go get the car and apparently the driver suffered a medical emergency and had to go to hospital," Foreman said, noting the driver is in his mid-50s.
He said police are waiting for the driver to contact police.
