Driver injured in roll over

Motorist trapped in upside-down ditched vehicle is relatively unharmed

A 62-year-old Port Alberni man was rushed to hospital in Nanaimo Tuesday after the car he was driving slammed into a ditch and rolled, say police.

The crash happened at about 7:10 a.m.  on Highway 4 near the entrance to Cathedral Grove when the driver of the eastbound, 1995 Taurus lost control of the vehicle.

The man was trapped in the car for a short period until the Port Alberni Fire Department was able to get him out.

He was taken by the British Columbia Ambulance Service to Nanaimo General Hospital with undetermined injuries.

An investigation into the cause of the incident is being carried out by Central Island Traffic Services.
