Eviction notice deadline passes without action

A situation that has been called 'a joke' around Qualicum Beach remains unresolved

Qualicum Beach town council was silent Monday night on the status of the 90-day notice of eviction it gave to the caretaker of the Heritage Forest, who has been living on town-owned property rent-free for years. The 90 days was over on Sept. 1 and Coun. Dave Willie confirmed the man is still living on the property. Coun. Mary Brouilette, who said at council meeting in May that this issue was "a joke" amongst people in town for years, would not comment directly Monday on the status of the eviction notice, saying only that council awaits information from staff.
