‘Flyin’ Phil’ St. Luke may someday be remembered with a statue in downtown Parksville.

Coun. Adam Fras brought a notice of motion to Parksville council’s last meeting that city staff be directed to explore the costs and option of erecting a statue of St. Luke, who died earlier this month at 70-years-old.

St. Luke was well-known over the decades for his walks around the community, where he would wave to everybody he passed, along with a thumbs up and a smile.

He also volunteered for many local causes such as the Salvation Army, the SPCA, the Downtown Cleaning Crew and food drives for the fire department.

Council will have an opportunity to discuss and vote on Fras’s motion at its next regular meeting on Feb. 6.
