Former Hornby Island resident, Solaris Onatta Running Dey, has been charged with one count of manslaughter in relation to a homicide in the Lower Mainland.

Early on the morning of Oct. 4, police were called to a home in the 7000-block of Westminster Highway in Richmond, where the body of 19-year-old Aspen Pallot was found.

Dey was charged with one count of manslaughter shortly after the woman’s body was discovered.

In November of 2017, Dey was the subject of a missing persons file with the Comox Valley RCMP.

At that time he was a resident of Hornby Island. He had not been seen since Nov. 21, 2017, but on Dec. 5, 2017, RCMP confirmed he had been found safe.

Comox Valley RCMP did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
