Gas prices creep up again in Parksville Qualicum Beach region

Average PQB prices rise above provincial average

Current winter gas prices are comparable to what they once were during the summer of 2021 for the Parksville Qualicum Beach region.

On Wednesday, Jan. 12, fuel prices for regular gas in Parksville hovered around 162.9 cents per litre, according to GasBuddy.com, an American tech company that operates apps and websites based on finding real-time fuel prices.

Gas N Go, Petro-Canada, Co-op and Chevron all hit the 162.9 mark, while the Shell station (879 W Island Hwy) sat at 159.9.

Similar prices were seen in Qualicum Beach, where the four fuel stations averaged 165.15, with Chevron (at 3850 W Island Hwy) being the highest at 167.9.

The average for the three fuel stations in Errington and Coombs (Co-op, Gas N Go and Petro-Canada) sat at 162.5.

For north Lantzville and Nanoose, the average fuel cost for the three stations along Highway 19 (Shell, Petro-Canada and Chevron) sat at 162.9.

The provincial average saw 161.9, as per the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) website.

The CAA website also noted the Canadian national average at 141.5for Jan. 12, 2022.

According to GasBuddy, the provincial average for mid-January 2021 sat at 119.1. The GasBuddy website also noted the Canadian national average for the same time last year at approximately 105.0.
