Going away on May 2?

Alternate voting options abound

Oceanside residents who plan to be away on voting day still have several opportunities to exercise their franchise.

Elections Canada representative Karen Forester said advance polls will be held on Friday, April 22, Saturday, April 23 and Monday, April 25. Voters can cast ballots at the Parksville Fellowship Baptist Church, at 550 Pym Street, at the Qualicum Beach Community Hall, at 644 Memorial Avenue, or at the Lighthouse Community Centre, at 240 Lions Way in Bowser.

Forester said voters who will be out of town during these days as well can still vote at the office by taking advantage of a special ballot option.

“Quite a few people have taken advantage of it already,” she said. “Both registration and the special ballot option end on April 26.”

She stressed the special ballot option is not designed to replace the general election day on May 2.

“It’s only for people who will be away on election day and the advance polls.”
