Housing society in Bowser seeks volunteers

Study shows there is sufficient demand in Bowser for independent-supportive housing facility

With the need for their services clearly established, the Bowser Seniors Housing Society is looking for a few dedicated people to take their cause to the next level.

Spokesperson Sally Barton said a recently-completed needs assessment on seniors’ housing in the area has confirmed there is sufficient demand for an independent-supportive housing facility in Bowser.

She noted demand outweighs the supply of affordable seniors’ housing in the area between Qualicum Beach and Courtenay.

The society, she said, has  a $2.86 million business plan, but they need a fresh crop of directors and other volunteers to help make to help make their dream a reality.

The Bowser Seniors Housing Society is a non-profit registered charity. Donations can be made in person by cheque or cash to any of the directors of the society, or to the account of the Society at the Union Bay Credit Union.

Anyone who would like to jump on board the push for more housing should call Barton at 250-757-8455.
