Hundreds of children and their families were in Parksville Sun day for KidFest and the Quality Foods Kids Sandcastle contest.

Children think that KidFest in Parksville is number one.

The day may have set some records, says Rob MacKay, an employee of Quality Foods.

The local grocery store company hosted their 30th annual Kids Sand Castle Building Competition, coinciding with the annual KidFest in Parksville Community Park on Sunday.

Quality Foods is celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, and they were giving out plenty of prizes to the kids for their sandcastle efforts on the beach.

Overcast skies and the threat of rain didn't keep people away. In fact, there appeared to be more people than ever at the park. MacKay noted quickly that he thought there might have been more entries in QF's sand castle event than ever.

The weather stayed warm, the rain held off, and families enjoyed the day.

There were games, prizes, food and fun for the whole family at the Parksville KidFest Sunday.
