Last chance for water bill reduction

Second time lucky - and that's it

A water bill reduction of $1,488 has been granted to a Nanoose Bay resident leaving the owner to pay $1,500, where normally the bill would be around $85. This is the second reduction the owner of the property on Dolphin Drive has received, both times the elevated costs were due to a water leak caused by water line freezing.

The Adjustment for Water Leak policy only allows for a water bill reduction to be considered once within a five year period; however, staff felt, and board members agreed, the property owner invested significant funds after the second leak to have the line replaced and inspected by Building Inspections staff. The board also passed a motion that no further water bill reductions would be considered for this property until May 2017.
