Nanoose Bay’s Lehann Wallace is running for re-election as Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) Area G director.

Wallace was elected in October 2019 and has since achieved clean water supply for the Sandpiper Subdivision after decades without resolve, according to a news release.

She also facilitated multiple organizations to achieve the 23-acre eagle sanctuary at French Creek Estuary in partnership with the BC Parks Foundation.

Wallace represents the most diverse electoral area within the RDN and the second-largest by population, with 8,100 residents, according to the 2021 census, with many multi-jurisdictional issues requiring complex collaboration to resolve.

Area G includes the San Pareil, French Creek, Little Qualicum, Dashwood and Englishman River areas.

In the current term, she serves on 13 RDN committees and holds four external RDN board appointments, including the Arrowsmith Water Service Board (chair), the RDN board representative for the North Island 911 Corporation, Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Institute Round Table and the Oceanside Homelessness Task Force.

“I admire how she digs in to get the facts before taking a position,” said Marilyn Johnson, Area G resident, in the release. “The diverse interests of Area G need a smart, energetic, and accessible leader with integrity, business experience and strong communication skills. Lehann is that person.”

Wallace is a graduate of UBC Sauder School of Business, has a master’s certificate in project management and most recently achieved an executive certificate in local government from Dalhousie University in 2020.
