Liquor licence change gets go ahead at Fairwinds

Outdoor patio will now be primarily an alcohol establishment

Directors with the Regional District of Nanaimo this week approved a change to the liquor license at the Fairwinds Golf Course.

The change was requested to allow the outdoor patio to be classified as a liquor-primary license, compared to the food-primary license it currently enjoys.

Directors noted the clubhouse, which has a 58 patron liquor-primary license and a 198-patron food-primary licence outside, needed to have the change in order to allow for it to conform to the provincial regulations whenever there are large groups that use the facility. The Fairwinds Golf Course often holds large banquets and other events, causing a headache for management in complying with the terms of the license.
