The public doesn’t appear concerned about the use of metal storage or shipping containers within the City of Parksville, at least according to the response at last week’s public hearing.
City council is considering amending a bylaw to permit the use of the containers on industrial zoned land, mostly found in the city’s industrial park.
The city didn’t receive any correspondence or other feedback other than one quick comment from the gallery.
Resident Charlie Stone cautioned council to be cautious about the aesthetics of allowing the containers. The amendment doesn’t change the prohibition on anything but short temporary use for moving and construction on commercial and residential property.
They will still be allowed for the storage of emergency supplies on institutional zoned land like schools.
