Man escapes serious injury after rollover accident on highway in Nanoose Bay

RCMP reports driver fell asleep at the wheel

A man escaped serious injury after he rolled his car on the Island Highway in Nanoose Bay at approximately 10 a.m. Friday (May 1).

Oceanside RCMP said the driver was headed north when he fell asleep behind the wheel. The car veered off the highway and flipped upside down, landing on a yard of a home. The driver was able to walk away from the crash and was attended to by BC Ambulance staff.

The Nanoose Bay Volunteer Fire Department and BC Ambulance were called to the scene and helped slow down the traffic keeping the flow to just one lane.
