Manage the flow

MLA Ron Cantelon says smart meters will help regulate power priorities

MLA Ron Cantelon said the so-called smart meters program is all about being able to better manage the province’s electrical resources.

“It’s about being able to manage the flow.”

Currently, he said, meters have an analog system which allows managers to see what the overall demand is, but that’s about it.

“They can see what power demand is but they can’t isolate it by community,” he said. “This more effectively manages power delivery.”

He noted individuals will also be able to monitor their power use as well.
