More than $1,600 raised

Food and toy drive was a big enough success they are already thinking about the second annual event next year.

The Coastal Community Credit Union and Saheli Boutique’s food and toy drive was a big enough success they are already thinking about the second annual event next year.

Held during the Parksville Downtown Business Association’s Moonlight Madness Christmas shopping evening, the event raised more than $1,670, plus 400 pounds of food and many toys, said credit union manager Mark Jones.

The money and food went to the Salvation Army Food Bank and the toys went to the SOS toy shop. Funds were raised through raffle tickets and donations with additional funds from the credit union.
