MP in Ottawa for Canada Day

MP James Lunney set to welcome royal couple in Ottawa

For the first time since he was elected to Parliament, James Lunney won’t be in Oceanside for Canada Day.

The Nanaimo-Alberni MP jetted off to the nation’s capital to take part in ceremonies welcoming the royal couple to Canada on Friday and he said he plans to celebrate Canada Day in Ottawa.

“Last year, sitting in the rain at the Parksville parade, water running down our umbrellas. I said to my wife, just think, we could have been at Rideau hall, welcoming her majesty,” Lunney said. “I think my constituents will understand that we want to welcome William and Kate to Canada.”
