A 55-year-old Parksville woman was taken to hospital April 30 with minor injuries after losing consciousness behind the wheel and driving off the road on Highway 19A near Franklin’s Gull Road in Parksville’s Industrial Park. RCMP were called after the woman, traveling northbound on the highway in a Toyota Corolla, veered across the centre line and clipped a Chevy Tahoe in the southbound left-turn lane. Her car continued across the highway and drove nose-first into the ditch beside the southbound lanes. “There were no drugs or alcohol involved,” said Cst. Jesse Foreman of Oceanside RCMP. “It appears to have been a medical condition.”
