Parksville business awards finalists selected

Tickets still available for awards night at Tigh-Na-Mara, March 9

On March 9, the Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce will honour the outstanding business members of the community. All employees and businesses of the Parksville District were eligible for nomination.

The Parksville and District Business Awards, sponsored by the Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce, The Parksville Qualicum Beach News, Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort, Vancouver Island University and Harris Oceanside Chevrolet, honours individuals and businesses that have demonstrated business excellence and outstanding customer service in 2016, according to a news release from the chamber.

The awards will be presented at the March chamber of commerce dinner at Tigh-Na-Mara Resort on March 9.

The chamber said a review panel selected the nominees that truly met the motivation for the awards: a business or person who demonstrated a great capacity for caring, applying original ideas, accepting challenges, and taking risks, while balancing the social needs of the community in their efforts.

Over the past several months, nomination forms were distributed throughout the district and the review panel had the difficult task of choosing the following finalists in each of these five categories:

Outstanding Customer Service:

• Bread and Honey Food Company

• Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy

• Shelley D'Amico, Namaskar Yoga

New Business:

• Iron Warehouse

• Wanderlust Tattoo

• Workability Program

Business Under 10 employees:

• Pacific Brimm Café & Catering

• Robert Held Art Glass

"The Rock" award, in memory of the late John Rockley, will be presented to an individual who exemplifies John's passion for business and our region.

Tickets for the event are available at the Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce, 1275 East Island Highway. For further information, call the chamber at 250-248-3613.
