A policy adopted by council in February 2000, allows for direct financial assistance to community groups and organizations for events and projects that benefits citizens and visitors of the city. The grant-in-aid budget is still dependent upon what provisions were included in the annual operating budget. This year’s budget total was $5,000, with $2,500 already being awarded for spring 2021.

Coun. Marilyn Wilson and Coun. Mark Chandler, along with corporate officer Amanda Weeks, served on the fall 2021 committee.

“One of the things that I thought we should mention, just as a reminder to folks who apply for these grants,” said Wilson at Monday’s council meeting, “is that they are required to fill the information in completely. Many of the applications were not filled in, but because they’re good organizations, we decided to still give the money out this year.”
