Parksville council to establish select committee for 2021 fall grant-in-aid applications

Two council members and one city staff member appointed

The City of Parksville has prepared for this year’s second round of grant-in-aid applications.

On Monday, Sept. 20, Parksville council voted in favour of establishing a select committee for the 2021 fall grant-in-aid applications. The committee will provide future recommendations to council on the budgeted $2,500 for received submissions for the period ending on Sept. 1, 2021.

For fall 2021, the listed applicants were the Oceanside Women’s Business Network, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Vancouver Island, the Federation of Canadian Artists Arrowsmith Chapter and the Ravensong Aquatic Club.

A policy adopted by council in February 2000, allows for direct financial assistance to community groups and organizations for events and projects that will benefits citizens and visitors of the city, although is still dependent upon what provisions were included in the annual operating budget. This year’s budget total was $5,000.

Coun. Marilyn Wilson and Coun. Mark Chandler, along with corporate officer Amanda Weeks, will serve on this round’s committee.
